"The Greatness of a Nation and it's Moral Progress can be Judged by the way its' Animals are Treated. - Gandhi
Sept 2008 : I have always felt a greater infinity with non human animals than I have for humans. I get 'clucky' when in the presence of 'animal young' and have absolutely no cluckyness when around 'human young'. My love for animals is deeper than my love for humans. I have no answers as to why this is so I just feel it in my marrow. I feel a connection with animals that is beyond time and space and therefore feel their suffering immensely. This is what motivates me to want to alleviate suffering and fight for their futures and their rights.
PHASE 1 - MY DREAM / MY PURPOSE
Phase one began in 1978 when I became vegetarian, and in the mid 80's when I decided not to use any products that contain animal products or that have been tested on animals right down to the toothpaste I use, the clothes I wear and even the laundry liquid that washes those clothes. Then in 2003 I started With Compassion & Soul. I will continue being vegetarian and purchasing only animal compassionate & environmental products for the rest of my life. Two thirds of my time each week is spent running my day business which enables me to spend the other third running 'With Compassion & Soul' which I will continue to operate until my 2 existing canine friends and my living parent are no longer in this life and I sell my business. I estimate this to be anywhere between 6 - 10yrs. So the first part of my dream is already being realised and being worked on and should be complete by 2018 at the latest.
PHASE 2 - MY DREAM / MY PURPOSE
The second phase of my dream begins once phase one is complete. This will involve passing on 'With Compassion & Soul' to someone who has the desire, commitment and dedication to carry it on. Then I will attempt to start on a journey which has been within my heart for a very long time. As well as having a connection with animals I have an affinity with Indonesia and Malaysia and I long to work with Orangutans in these countries - working up close with them in a sanctuary, working on raising awareness in the western world about their plight and helping to raise money to purchase rainforest to release rehabilitated Orangutans into. I know this is being done already by many people and I would love to join them and devote the rest of my life and time to them until the day I die.
Several things would make it easier for me to do this than it would many others.
1) Early on I made a conscious decision not to have children so I have no commitments or responsibilities in that area
2) I need no possesions
3) I can live very simply
4) I am passionate, dedicated and committed
At the moment I am not sure how to go about achieving this goal as I know it is a difficult one as unknown people with no zoological, vetinenary or anthropological degrees are not readily accepted into Orangutan Sanctuarys for many reasons. But it is something I feel strongly that I am mean't to do so I will keep trying to work out how to achieve this until I have either exhausted all possibilities or someone recognises that I could be of value to the Orangutans and can see the dedication, passion and committment I offer until my last breath and is willing to give me a try. I may even have to live in a small village somewhere near a Sanctuary for a few years until I can prove that my intentions and offer are genuine, have longevity and that I could be of assistance to the cause.
WISH ME LUCK
