These enclosures can house any insect for short periods of time. Enough time for you to view up close their behaviour and with Monarchs their metamorphosis from caterpillar to chrysalis and chrysalis to hatching butterfly. We don't advise you keeping any insect in here permanently. Not because it is not possible but because we believe they should spend as much of their short lives in nature as possible. They give you the gift of allowing you to see parts of their lives and in return you should release them back to the garden after you have done that, don't make it a life long prison for them. <3 These front opening enclosures allow you to quickly unzip and clean or replace food for the butterfly or insect who is housed in the enclosure. You can also gently hose them to clean them when finished and give a light spray of a diluted bleach solution to make sure no germs remain. Refrain from putting any insect or butterfly in the enclosure for a week after bleaching it.
